My first post about YOU
My first English post
I was thinking of what should be in my first English post and after a while, I got the idea! My blog is about all of you. You, yeah you, I met you on my travels around the World and I would love to write my first article about the people I have met.
But then I just couldn't decide who the article should be about. I have met many people and I wanted to put them all in here, of course. On the other hand, there is not enough space to put all of the great souls I have met during my travels. I actually didn't travel that much yet as I would love to but I still have time to do so. Despite the fact, I met so many people on my way and I'm still in touch with many of them. All of those I have met already are such great souls, such great people to talk to, to share my stories with or just to get some advice from. It is quite funny how some of them could be close to you and understand you even they are miles away or you met them just once or twice. Sometimes, you don't have to know each other for ages or live close to each other to be best friends. As I already said I have met so many people on my way so I can't write about all of you. I might do later but not in the first post because it would be too long. This first one I would like to write about the people I met on my Californian road trip adventure. I would love to write some sentences about each of you because you crossed my way during my travels and you have been amazing! Each of you has your own story that I don't want to tell the world but I would like to tell the world how amazing you are, at least!
The first person, I have met on my Californian trip was Michelle. Michelle, this beautiful soul from the inside to the outside, who lives in Santa Rosa. My first Couchsurfing experience and the best one as I can say. She is the person, who was waiting for me until 11 pm when I arrived driving from San Francisco and got lost like 20times. I will always remember her big heart, her eyes that are full of love and those welcoming warm hugs that I needed after the first horrifying drive. Her amazing dog fell in love with me, I guess and wanted to stay with me forever but back to Michelle. I have never met anyone who will leave such a huge trace in my heart just after one night when we even almost didn't talk to each other and half of one day that we spent together. I wanted to give her something because she was waiting so long the night before so I offered I'll bring her for breakfast so we had brunch together with her and her cute doggie. She didn't want me to pay for it but I'm almost relentless so she gave up in the end. What is even more perfect than the story I have met such a great soul? The fact that we are still in touch even I'm back home in my country. She texted me while I was traveling around California asking if I'm ok and if I'm having such a great time. We also agreed that she is coming to visit me in Vietnam, Asia or wherever I'm at the moment and I seriously can't wait to meet her again somewhere on my way. Thank you, Michelle, for being such a great person like you are!
The next one I would like to write a few sentences is John. The first time, when I heard about him was with Michelle. She said, my neighbor is coming, he is really talkative so no worries. Everyone is called John in the US so this is John. John was such a great guy who was around 100 years old, they told me, I still don't believe it. Anyway, he was in the Second World War and he was educated enough that he knew where he can find my country on the map. I mean, yeah, he knew Czechoslovakia but to excuse him, he knew enough and was in the Second World War crossing our borders when we were Czechoslovakia so I can excuse that to that nice old man. He was funny, lovely and so friendly. He was joking about women, in a good way though. In the end, he gave me such a warm hug wishing me to meet such great people and luck on my travels. John, I wish you many more great years staying so friendly, lucky and happy forever.
Another person that was my pleasure to meet on my recent travel around California was called James. Actually, I think his name was James because we met each other in a lane waiting to be seated in a restaurant. This is the moment when you are going to have some breakfast to the place you have read many great reviews about but this time you are going alone and you have the feeling this is the moment you would love to share with someone. In the same second, you are staying in the lane to be seated and there is one more person in the row who is waiting as well. He asked me if I'm eating alone and so I gave him the truth that I do. The restaurant looks really full, some people even waiting outside to be seated in groups but when the waitress came to ask if we would like to have table for two I said: "Well, I'm here on my own but if you don't have a place to seat one I'm pretty sure that I can share a table with this lovely gentleman" and so we started talking to each other and James offered me to have breakfast together at the bar. We ended talking endlessly about his family, my travels, he even showed me his mom knitting in his living room because he has cameras all around his house to look after her while he is not at home. She is turning 90 he said and so he has cameras around the house as well as the GPS in her car to know where she is going to. He is working in construction business and he was talking to me about this new Facebook Headquarters that his company built a few months ago in their town. He advised me what I should try at this place as a typical American breakfast and ended up paying for it even that I didn't want him to pay for it. He wanted to pay his bill and I said I will pay mine too but he said it is already paid. Thank you, James, for being such a gentleman and paying my breakfast, for advising me such great food and for all of those stories sharing with me because you made my day that day!
As we had two men now we should continue with a female population. Meet Ping. such a great American Chinese woman. She is the owner of the cutest AirBnb I have ever stayed at! Seriously! I came to Merced just for one night so I could be close to the Yosemite National Park but I ended up staying three nights because she was just my second home. I arrived on Friday, really tired and the only thing I needed was a bed. I talked to her for ages, she is just an amazing person. One of those you are so glad you met on your way because the way won't be that nice without her. This photo is from the second day when she taught me how to make homemade Chinese noodles and so the soup is the one I made by myself. She also taught me how to make other Chinese vegetables as Pac Choi etc. After two nights we came such a great friend and she was so sad I was leaving that she gave me a set of handmade wooden chopsticks for my Vietnamese adventure with such great words following it. Her friend brought the chopsticks from Africa for her but she said I should have them as it should be like that. She had one more room in the house, not just the beautiful cottage I was staying at, where those two guys were staying at. Tristan and Duke, two Taiwanese guys that we had a Karaoke night with. So friendly and amazing people, full of fun. I'm still in touch with Tristan and Ping and I'm so glad I could meet them all! Ping, I wish you all the best! Stay the way you are as you are a perfect person! Guys, I wish you the best of luck in anything you go in the future and I'm pretty sure it wasn't our last time and I have a feeling we will see each other again, maybe in Taiwan.
Who is next? Try to guess! I mean, you can try to guess the nationalities because you know they are girls at least. Me on the right hand, of course, such a friendly girl on my right, your left. I met the girl on the bus on the way to the Golden Gate Bridge. Typical me, going somewhere talking to strangers and deciding to join them instead of going alone, right? This is almost true. I was on the bus going my direction to the Golden Gate Bridge and heard her talking to one woman about the bridge. I just asked if she is going there and if she is going alone and as she said yes I asked if I can join her. And so here we are again. me talking to a stranger. She wasn't an absolute stranger though. We already introduced each other, so meet Marie, a German girl that crossed my way. We spend a whole day together that we both enjoyed, I guess. It was her last day as she was leaving for New York lately. On our way back to the city center we met another girl, exactly at this place pictured on our photo. This place called Pont de Artes was magical as well as weird. I mean, it was beautiful, just the fact that it wasn't built by any people with history but just as an art by some artist was weird. I'm so sorry that I don't remember the name of the girl on the left but I hope that the excuse could be the fact that I saw her just for a few hours. I remember she if from Chile, originally, but she lives in New Jersey, where she was leaving the same day as Maria and they nearly get the same flight so I guess they met at the airport together again. We split our ways lately and they went together and I continued on my own. Girls, I would love to wish you all the best, the best of luck anywhere you go and in anything you do because you are such nice people. It would be my pleasure to meet you again if it would be possible.
Cable car riding like a crazy girl for the first time, meet Charlotte. This amazing girl jumped to my travel for the last day! We met each other at my hostel in San Francisco. I remember her telling me after my first day when I told her what I was doing that she did the same walk. I still don't understand we didn't meet that day, maybe it was faith. The next day, we spent all day together and I'm so glad I could do so. Charlotte is one of the people you could stay forever with. She is smiley, she is the sun in your rainy day, I guess that is why she lives where she lives. This girl is originally from France, not that far away from Paris, I love her French accent while speaking English by the way. It sounds very annoying when some French people try to speak English with their French accent but I love hers! That's why I didn't even try to talk in French to her, I know I should practice but I loved her talking in English with her French accent. She is a cute French girl living in Brazil! Yes, you read right! She lives in Sao Paolo. She is the person I really have to see again, she gave me a lot from her soul and stayed with me my last day. She was my support on my downs mainly because it was my leaving day and I needed that support as hell. I will never forget her honest and friendly smile and her stories about walking San Francisco up and down. I'm so glad I can say we are still in touch and I hope I might visit her one day in Brazil! Charlotte, I wish you all the best! I'm so happy I could meet you and I will do my best to see you soon again! Thank you for everything and for every second being with me on my last day, you will stay in my heart forever and ever!
In my last paragraph, I would love to write about those girls! Meet Maleeha, Nino and Lubna, those amazing Californian girls that I could meet on my way and we spent two days and one night together in the Yosemite National Park. We had such an amazing time and I'm so glad I could meet them. One of them better than the other, all of them with big hearts, funny and friendly. I wouldn't change a thing about any of them and would love to spend more time with them. How did I meet those girls? I know Maleeha, the one girl behind me. I met her in Prague, nearly one year ago with other girls. She was traveling from Edinburg and stayed in Prague. We were still in touch so I have decided I should tell her I'm coming and we ended up sorting one big meeting and camping together in Yosemite. It was just perfect! Maleeha, her sister Lubna on the right and their friend from school Nino, all of us together sleeping in a freezing car for a night in the valley to do this beautiful hike of our life to see the waterfall from the distance when you can nearly touch it! It was just perfect! No matter what, that they had such a long drive from LA as we all were coming from different directions and met in Yosemite lately. I was waiting for them like for 3 more hours than I should in the beginning because the traffic was really bad on the South but everything was just so worth it! We had such great fun, we laughed, we nearly cried from the cold, we enjoyed every single moment and I guess that these are the moment we all will remember forever. Thank you girl, for making my trip as perfect as it couldn't be if I have wouldn't meet you and spent my Yosemite time with you! I wish you all the best in everything you are going to do at the moment and we all know what it should be. I'm pretty sure we all meet again and I'm already thinking about next year autumn...MAYBE? :)
I would love to thank all of those great people again. I couldn't fit all of the people I met on my trip though because it would be too long and I guess it is already longer than the first post suppose to be. I hope that I can post at least one post a week if not more. I will try my best to write another article during the weekend so see you soon guys, hopefully...
