Lake Berryessa

I already posted two articles about my American travel a few weeks ago. There are still many on the way but I wanted to post one short story about a place I have decided I should visit on my way. As I was travelling just by myself, I planned just my two first nights in the States that turned out differently as well, of course, so I didn't have a direct route to go. While I was going from St. Helena to Vacaville for a one night I decided to take 128 and get to the place I was reading about on the Internet before I left a lot. This place is called Lake Berryessa.

What is the Lake Berryessa about that I actually wanted to stop there at all and went a bit different route than the one that could be even faster for me?

Lake Berryessa is a lake with all the activities you might be looking for as camping, kayaking, all kind of water sports activities as well as fishing, etc. but it has something more. I couldn't stay a night there so I wasn't really interested in camping or fishing, right? What was that exciting to see that I drove something like 16 more miles to see it? It is actually a hole. What? A hole? What are you talking about?

Yes, it is actually a hole in the lake. What kind of hole though? I mean, is it natural or fake. Did anyone build it or not? All of those questions were running through my head when I saw the video and photos of it for the first time as well. I googled it a bit and I found those answers. No, it is not definitely a natural thing but it was built by people. What actually is it? My guess is that this hole is a kind of a place where the water goes through and out of the lake, like drainage, but it is just my guess.

I parked at the parking spot and went to the lake. There is a fence around it, of course. They don't want people to jump there and I'm pretty sure there might be some crazy people to try that out. I met a few visitors who decided to stop there as it was on their way or just to get here because it looks interesting. We were talking with some and thinking about the hole. You can stay there for ages and watch the water falling down the hole. Some slow-motion shots turned really well. Although, it is not that easy to take a great picture even with a camera if you have any because of the fence. This place was really magical because if you had a look closer to the hole you could see the water running through and had a feeling that the time flies like the water through the tap. The silence as there is nothing around just the lake and yourself is lovely and the feeling that the hole might not be the thing you are thinking of and might be something different as a hole to the center of the world is just funny but it might be true...
